The 4WD vehicle belonging to Dr Hatta Ramli, after the arson attack in the early hours today. – The Malaysian Insider pic, February 14, 2015.A senior PAS leader at the centre of conspiracy allegations against the party president woke this morning to find his four-wheel drive vehicle in flames outside his home in Kuala Lumpur.The truck, belonging to PAS elections director, Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, was set alight around 3.50am outside his home in Hulu Klang by an unidentified man, according to a security guard on patrol.Another car had driven past the house and a man emerged to set fire to the car. The security guard sounded the horn of his motorcycle as a warning.One of Dr Hatta's children reportedly put out the flames, before the fire department and police arrived.Dr Hatta could not be reached to confirm the incident but The Malaysian Insider was informed of it by PAS Research Centre director, Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad."Dr Hatta informed me of the incident earlier this morning," Dzulkefly said, adding that he believed it could be related to accusations against Dr Hatta from within the Islamist party that he had been part of a plot to unseat the president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang.Last Sunday, a group of PAS members held a demonstration outside the party headquarters in Jalan Raja Laut, Kuala Lumpur.The demonstration was led by Pahang PAS Youth chief Fadli Ahmad and included the state's ulama chief, Mokhtar Senik.But Dzulkefly said he did not think those who were against Dr Hatta would stoop so low as to set fire to his car."I believe it is the work of others who are trying to take advantage of the situation," he said.The claims of a conspiracy against Hadi were immediately denied by PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali, but said the party would investigate the allegations. – February 14, 2015.
